Project Overview
Filmclub is an online film society created for cinefiles from across the globe that combines a regular streaming service functionality and the element of discussion.

I've been nurturing the idea of a Filmclub for many years. As I've grown older, I've developed a deep appreciation for cinematography, artistic cinema and endless discussions with friends who shared this passion with me. At some point, I realized that watching films and engaging in discussions about them allowed me to discover new perspectives and sparked my interest in topics I hadn't previously considered.
Though, special place in this whole story is reserved for DKF "Bariera". It is a local film society, operating within UMCS Academic Culture Centre Chatka Żaka since 1972, where I worked as a graphic designer for over 3 years. In 2021, the iconic film club resumed its activities and I had an opportunity to design its visual identity.
I became curious about the enduring history of the club, as well as the phenomenon of film societies in Poland and around the world. Today, in the era of streaming services, the role of film societies seems to be marginalized.
Is there any way to restore the tradition of film societies among the young generation?
